Sons to celebrate Syttende Mai

Angela Seitz and Phyllis Ibes presented their "Scandinavia in a Nutshell" program on Iceland to the Sons of Norway. They had both been there on a cultural exchange program. Iceland is a progressive country, but dependant on food imports, they said. The temperature rarely gets above 70 and seldom gets much below freezing.

Judy and John Hatlewick and Elmer and Jeri Balvik were guests and Genene Colbert, Karen Freeman and Andrea Eckstein were admitted as new members.

It was announced The Norwegian Troll Dancers and Wergeland Lodge will host the District 4 Folk dance workshop March 25-26, 2011. Dancers from Canada, Montana, Minnesota, South Dakota and North Dakota will attend.

Syttende Mai will be celebrated at 6 p.m. May 17 at Shady's restaurant with a buffet meal and entertainment by Kerry Wicks on the Hardanger fiddle and folk dancing by the Norwegian Troll Dancers. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from Sons of Norway members or call Gloria Harr at 252-0483 by May 10.
