Montpelier OK Club holds meeting

The Montpelier OK Club met May 6 with 15 members present at the Legacy Living Center.

President Marlys Boughton brought the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Janet Van Bruggen shared “10 top reasons to enjoy growing old.”

Tom Norman is the newest member of the Montpelier OK Club.

The group also welcomed Elaine Heinrich, who returned from Arizona. She enjoyed being with her longtime friends who she has met in her 35 years of living in the same area of Arizona.

The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were approved as read.

The memorial service for DeLila Everson’s husband, Wallace “Wally” Everson, was held May 3 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Walum, N.D., with burial in the church cemetery. The lunch fellowship was held at the Lutheran Church in Hannaford, N.D. Club members who attended were Marlys Boughton, Willie Kamletz and Janet and Gerald Van Bruggen.

This week Harriet Kartes is moving to the Heritage Centre of Jamestown.

Members with birthdays in May are Millie Wilkinson, Marge Limesand and Ivan Gjerding. Wilkinson will furnish the dessert for the next meeting.

The door prize meal ticket went to Norman Winkelman.

Bingo was played with Harold Ratts winning the small picture frame. Boughton, Van Bruggen and Kartes won the large picture frame, and Norman won blackout. Whist was played with these winners: high, Lorraine Jorgenson, and low, Kamletz. Pinochle was also played with these winners: high, Boughton, and low, Heinrich.

DeLette Winkelman furnished the afternoon cake in honor of her 79th birthday, which was on April 25.

The next meeting will be May 20 at the Legacy Center. Guests are always welcome at the meetings. Attendees should use the west entrance and follow the signs.
