Vinje speaks on business at Rotary

Travis Vinje, partner in I.T. Works, Jamestown, spoke at the recent Rotary meeting. The business started in December 2013. Vinje had been working in Grand Forks, doing repair work and, with his partner,  decided to open another store/repair shop in Jamestown, which is located in the Meidinger Square, Suite No. 9. Vinje talked about repairing smartphones, laptops, iPad, iPods, Macs and PCs. Broken phones, Kindles and other tablets can be fixed, Vinje said. Office hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Anton Schweitzer is the guest speaker, and he will be sharing on his book about Germans from Russia. Jason Connolly will give the invocation, Selmer Spitzer will lead in songs, and Tim Ottmar is the sergeant-at-arms.

Carrie Orn presided over the Rotary meeting, Mark Sherfy gave the table blessing, Mike Smyth collected “Happy Dollars” for Rotary projects, and Troy LeFevre led the group in singing. Megan Aldinger and Lisa Jackson were invited guests. There were no National Honor Society students in attendance.

Orn thanked Darrell Losing and Sherfy for helping with the concrete pour at the gazebo site. She also announced the dates for the dedication of the gazebo as Saturday. Clean up at Camp Rokiwan is at 5 p.m. May 21. The State Rotary All-Star Soccer Tournament is June 4, and vespers for Rotary members only is at Casey Stoudt’s cabin at 5 p.m. June 24. Nick Schmidt announced a grant has been submitted to the Rotary district for matching funds to build a storage building, press box and covered benches for players at the Rotary Soccer Field Complex.
