Montpelier OK Club holds meeting

The Montpelier OK Club met at Legacy Living Center at noon July 15, with 16 members present. President Marlys Boughton opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Elaine Heinrich shared a reading on “Prices – Then & Now,” and Harold Ratts told a joke. Gerald Van Bruggen told about taking family members from the Netherlands who were visiting them to see Frontier Village and other places of interest in Jamestown. The oldest man didn’t speak English, but understood when the others repeated it to him in Dutch.

Several of the club’s members attended the 90th birthday open house at the Heritage Centre for former club member Bob Sarbaum. Boughton visited former OK Club member Alma Becker, who lives at Rock of Ages. Heinrich had an antique auction sale in Lisbon on July 19.

The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were approved as read.

The door prize meal ticket drawing went to Marjorie Limesand.

Bingo was played with Sharon Hatlewick filling in the small picture frame, Willie Kamletz filled in the large picture frame, and DeLila Everson won the blackout game. Whist was played with these winners: high, Kamletz and Mildred Wilkinson, and low, Limesand and DeLette Winkelman. Pinochle was also played with these winners: high, Sonia Berg, and low, Kartes.

Gerald and Janet Van Bruggen furnished the afternoon dessert in honor of Janet’s 82nd birthday July 7 and their 57th wedding anniversary on July 12.

The club’s next meeting will be on Aug. 5 at the Legacy Center. Guests are welcome at the meetings and should use the Legacy Center’s west entrance.
