Ramon, Hoke named students of semester
Helen Ramon has been chosen by Tammy Mullowney as the freshman English Student of the Semester.
Ramon is new to Jamestown this year after moving here from California. She displays an extremely sophisticated writing style and mature insight into literature, eloquently expresses her opinions and perceptions of what she has read and excels in school, Mullowney said. Her main interests include reading and working on puzzles, and she is an active member of Jamestown High School’s Best Books Club. She is the daughter of Carlos and Maria Ramon.
Alivia Hoke was nominated by Daysha Conway as the sophomore English Student of the Semester. Hoke was chosen for her hard work ethic, her passion for learning and her solid, mature writing style, Conway said. She is involved in band, choir, show choir, jazz band, speech and drama. Her interests include music, acting, reading, spending time with friends, Disney movies and musicals. She is also involved with her youth group worship team at Temple Baptist Church, and in her spare time, she works at Meeting Grounds at Jamestown Regional Medical Center as a barista.
Hoke’s future plans include attending the University of Jamestown to pursue a degree in education and become a music teacher. She is the daughter of Chris and Mel Hoke.
