LeFevre chosen to attend Flickertail Girls State program

Mara LeFevre

The American Legion Auxiliary Flickertail Girls State program ended June 16. Mara LeFevre, a junior at Jamestown High School, was chosen to attend this year’s session.

Girls State citizens learn how government functions on a local, county and state level. Attendees are divided into cities, then two cities are combined to form a county and all counties combine to form the “Flickertail State.”

Girls campaign for various offices and participate in the voting of bills and laws and many other activities.

The main goal of Girls State is to develop skills to become more knowledgeable in the functions of government to become better citizens.

Sponsors for this year’s program were the Kiwanis Club of Jamestown and the American Legion Auxiliary. This year’s chairman for the Girls State for the American Legion Auxiliary was Marva Miska.
