Local FCRV members win national awards
Local Roaming Buffalo Family Campers & RVers members Ted and Deb Kapp won four national awards at various awards ceremonies during the recent 2017 National FCRV Campvention in Lima, Ohio.
For a second consecutive year, Deb Kapp received
a first-place ribbon on the Roaming Buffalo Club’s s c r a p b o o k entered into the national chapter scrapbook contest. In presenting the award, Shirley MacKenzie, national historian from Louisa, Va., said judges for that national competition awarded Kapp’s scrapbook entry 100 points out of a possible 100.
Club scrapbooks from across the U.S. and Canada entered into national competition are judged on creativity, authenticity, continuity (balance), public appeal and interpretation or expression.
The club’s scrapbook, assembled by Kapp, included numerous photographs with captions, newspaper clippings and articles from The Jamestown Sun and state FCRV newsletter, the Dakota Camper, all detailing the club’s involvement in community service projects, club projects and activities, club campouts, club awards and plaques.
Kapp also won one of several awards in the annual national site decoration contest this year following the “Bring your train to Lima” theme. She received the award for the “funniest site.” National prizes in this year’s contest were model train cars, each carrying $25 cash prizes from contest sponsor Geneseo Campground in Illinois.
In addition, Ted and Deb Kapp and their teacup poodles, Ladie and Licorice, received two awards in the 2017 National Campvention pet parade. Ted, Deb, Ladie and Licorice tied for “Best of Show” honors in the annual national pet parade. Ted and Licorice also received a firstplace ribbon in the “owner look-alike” category.
