SCARTA hears convention reports
For old business, Peg Schlenker was introduced as the club’s new vice chairperson to replace Bill Well.
Several people gave reports on the 2017 state convention that they attended in Fargo. Mitzel handed out a revised and updated sheet of the committees for the 1018 convention. He pointed out the changes and discussed why he had made them. He asked for input and encouraged everyone to be sure to sign up for a committee.
Mitzel also handed out a sheet to get suggestions for speakers and presenters for the 2028 convention. For new business the president asked for three volunteers on Oct. 26 to help with Manufacturing Day at the University of Jamestown. Schlenker, Joyce Naslund and Kay Glynn volunteered.
The club will not meet in November. The next meeting will be Dec. 5. Music will be performed by a group of Jamestown High School students.
The program at the October meeting was “Winter, your Car and You.” Mitzel handed out a sheet on what to check on your car before winter. The group discussed some of the things people should check and why. He also handed out the Stutsman County Emergency Guide and pointed out what they recommend people carrying in their car for an emergency. Mitzel gave the program because the person who planned to give it was unable to attend.
