Each year, the North Dakota Long Term Care Association (NDLTCA) selects outstanding volunteers in three categories: Adult, Young Adult and Group.

This year’s Group Volunteer of the Year is Ron’s unBelievable Bingo Bunch from Golden Manor, Steele.

Ron Christenson has been volunteering his time and talents since the 1980s. When a group he was volunteering with disbanded, he started his own weekly bingo games at the facility. He has brought in other volunteers to assist not only with bingo, but with monthly events for residents, quilting, playing cards, dances and doing clothing alterations. Current members include Gayle Christenson, Merle and Carol Johnson, Kay Janke, Luella Hayes, Betty Smokov, Lorraine Weippert and Edith Mittleider. The residents at Golden Manor know the volunteers on a first name basis and enjoy the one-to-one visits they also receive from this group.

The 2018 Volunteer of the Year recipients were recognized at the NDLTCA Gala Awards Dinner May 2 at the Bismarck Event Center.

The North Dakota Long Term Care Association is a professional association of community and long-term care providers who enhance the lives of people they serve through collaboration, education and advocacy. NDLTCA represents assisted living, basic care and nursing facilities throughout North Dakota.
