14U softball sweeps Devils Lake

The Jamestown 14U fastpitch softball team defeated Devils Lake on Thursday 13-0 and 28-4 to remain unbeaten at 12-0.

Joey Kleinsasser and Olivia Nihill had triples in the opener, while Chloe Crabtree doubled. Crabtree also spun a one-hitter pitching, striking out six in five innings.

Mariah Wick, Molly Fritz and Courtney Peterson also had hits. Halle Uehran had a team-best three runs scored. Nihill and Kleinsasser scored two runs apiece.

Jamestown pounded out 23 hits in the second game. It scored 18 runs in the top of the first inning.

Sydney Soulis, Fritz, Amber Buskness, Shania Drenth each collected three knocks. Uehran homered and had two hits, while Crabtree also totaled two hits. Uehran, Soulis, Fritz, Nihill, Wick and Morgan Well each scored three runs.

14U hosts Devils Lake on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and then competes in the state tournament in Grand Forks this weekend.
