17th annual Relay for Life set
The 17th annual Stutsman County Relay for Life has been scheduled for June 21-22 at Taylor Stadium on the University of Jamestown campus.
Opening ceremonies will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 21.
Survivors and caregivers will walk the first ceremonial lap, led by the Knights of Columbus Color Guard. Then teams will be introduced and walking will commence.
Other events planned include a silent auction, a luminary ceremony and a fight back ceremony. The Relay is a family event, and teams will set up tents around the perimeter of the track and participate in activities all evening.
Teams and corporate sponsorships are still needed. The next Relay for Life meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Monday at United Presbyterian Church, located at 302 2nd Ave. SE. The Steering Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Anyone interested in forming or joining a team or joining the Steering Committee is encouraged to attend.
Other upcoming Relay activities include a father/daughter dance on May 2 at the Quality Inn & Suites and a survivors tea at 2 p.m. June 8 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Plans are also being made to encircle the World’s Largest Buffalo with pink ribbons for the event.
