61-year-old Casselton man killed in two-vehicle I-94 crash

WEST FARGO - A 61-year-old Casselton man is dead after a collision on Interstate 94 west of West Fargo this morning.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol received a call just before 6 a.m. on a report of the two-vehicle crash near mile marker 341.

Troopers arrived to find one car in the ditch and a small pickup truck in the median that had rolled.

Royce Rodacker, the driver of the pickup that rolled, was ejected from the vehicle and found dead at the scene, according to state troopers.

The other driver, 20-year-old Nicholas Milbrandt from Kindred, was taken by a private vehicle to Essentia Health in Fargo where he was treated for minor injuries.

Milbrandt told troopers he and Rodacker were eastbound on the interstate. Milbrandt was trying to pass Rodacker when a rear-end type of collision occurred.

Rear-end collisions of this type are unusual on an open interstate but not unheard of, according to Sgt. Dave Wolf of the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
