Arrests made during annual Run
Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger said this year’s Runnin O’ the Green on Saturday saw more arrests and a little rowdier crowd.
There were 88 arrests overall during the fundraiser, up from 65 for last year, according to Edinger. There were 61 arrests for possession of an alcoholic beverage and four arrests for urinating in public. These are the two offenses that were handled at the command post held at the Jamestown Fire Department station on 2nd Avenue Northwest during the fundraising event.
The bond for unlawful possession of an alcoholic beverage is $500. For urinating in public, the bond was $150 during the Runnin O’ the Green through noon Sunday, then it went back to $500.
Edinger said Saturday afternoon went well as the majority of the event’s participants were in a good mood and out to have fun.
As the afternoon turned to evening, Edinger said the crowds got a little rowdier.
“It seemed like we were breaking up more fights,” he said. “People were not as friendly.”
Edinger said Ryan Goff, Jamestown Police officer, was punched during an altercation at the Corner Bar around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Edinger said he didn’t know all the details about the incident, and that the man who allegedly punched Goff has been charged with simple assault. This story will be updated as more details become available.
