Authorities rule death in Montevideo a homicide

MONTEVIDEO, Minn. — Authorities have ruled that the death of Thomas Dickson, 64, on Dec. 23 in Montevideo is a homicide, Montevideo Police Chief Adam Christropher announced on Saturday.

Dickson’s body reportedly had been found about 10:15 p.m. on Monday in his upstairs apartment in an apartment building on Canyon Avenue, one block from the city’s Main Street. Police initially termed the death suspicious. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension had been called to the scene with its mobile crime laboratory.

The victim’s body had been transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s office. Investigators had been waiting for a report from the office.

Chief Christopher said the cause of Dickson’s death is not being released at this time.

He added that police do not believe there is any risk to the public.
