Jamestown gave up a late goal to No. 1 Bismarck Century at home last week to lose 2-1, and recently lost to state-bound Bismarck St. Mary’s and also Mandan by one goal last Saturday.

“They’re good teams we’ve been playing against,” Jamestown coach Mike Schulz said. “I really think our girls kind of pulled it together.”

The match was scoreless at halftime. Minot eked out a score midway through the second half, as Lauren Ferree converted during the 61st minute. Alicia Feehan assisted on the play.

Schulz said a defensive change has keyed his team’s success during the second half of the season.

“We moved Rachel Morin back to play center ‘D’ and since then, our defensive line has held really well,” Schulz said. “They’re playing with a lot more confidence. It’s pretty good soccer they’re playing.”

Minot’s Kaitlyn Stenberg stopped four shots in the win.

Haley Hillstrom finished with 17 saves for Jamestown, which ends its season Thursday against Bismarck High. The game will be played at Shiloh Christian High School at 8 p.m.
