Bullock is Unison artist for August
Connie Bullock is Unison Bank’s artist of the month for August.
Bullock sold her first painting when she was 17: an acrylic art project that was displayed at her school in Jamestown and won the heart of the school secretary. Other than a few paintings a couple of years later, one of which won an award at the Annual Art Show in Jamestown in 1982, she put her paints away for nearly 20 years to raise her family.
In 2004, Bullock enrolled in art classes through an adult continuing education program in Cook, Minn., and had continued to pursue her interest in watercolors and acrylics. Her acrylic paintings boast wildlife, landscapes and anything else that catches her eye. With watercolor she creates “Leaf Shadows,” which she describes as “nature and art; God’s beauty enhanced by a few swirls of paint.” Bullock collects autumn leaves and pastes them to a watercolor shadow on canvas. She said her favorite paintings are ones that she creates for family and friends, specific to their hobbies and interests.
She is a member of Art of the Lakes Art Association in Battle Lake, Minn. She has four children, two grandchildren and is employed full time as a public health nurse.
She also enjoys writing poetry and short stories, some of which complement her artwork. For more information, go to www.con niescabinstudio.com.
