KaLee Hack hammered 16 kills while Isabell Wedell and Madi Bommersbach added 15 and 10, respectively, to lift Ellendale to a 25-16, 25-12, 24-26, 25-14 win over Pingree-Buchanan in the semifinals of the District 5 high school volleyball tournament Monday night in LaMoure.

Ellendale (25-4) advances to face LaMoure (30-3) in the championship tonight.

The Cardinals were tested in only one set, which they lost. Dacey Fuller had five aces and 27 assists, while Wedell added three blocks and three aces in the win.

Jordan Thomas had a team-high 11 kills for Pingree-Buchanan, which plays Barnes County North (7-20) in a region-qualifier.

LaMoure dispatched of Edgeley-Kulm with relative ease, winning 25-7, 25-10 and 25-14.

Anna Holen had nine kills, six aces and eight digs, and Courtney Carlson finished with seven kills and two aces. The Loboes did well from the service line, finishing with 16 in the match. Abby Warcken had five.

Edgeley-Kulm’s Bailey Berg had 10 digs in the loss. The Rebels (5-23) square off against Litchville-Marion-Montpelier (2-23) in today’s region-qualifier.

Mustangs, Lions

to play for title

Madison Schnabel pounded down an astounding 25 kills and Morgan Schnabel added 16 more as South Border beat Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter  26-24, 25-14, 23-25 and 25-11 to advance to the semifinals of the District 6 tournament in Wishek. The Mustangs (24-7) meet four-time defending region champion Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock (30-7) for the title today.

JaCee Schmidt led Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter with 11 kills. The Imperials (20-13) play Kidder County (12-15) in a region-qualifier.

Linton-HMB lost game two, but cruised from there, beating Strasburg-Zeeland 25-14, 27-29, 25-10, 25-8 to punch its ticket. Kaidra Larson, McKenna Flyberg and Nicole Nieuwsma each had 10 kills.

Strasburg-Zeeland (18-14) plays Medina (0-24) for a spot in the Region 3 tournament.
