Chili Cook-Off, bake sale raise $2,400
More than $2,400 was raised Saturday at the 9th annual Business Leaders Chili Cook-Off at the Buffalo Mall in Jamestown.
Bev Dawson, administrative assistant for IRET Properties, which manages the Buffalo Mall, said 241 tickets were sold for the contest Saturday, which raised $1,584. With the $800 raised in a bake sale held by RSVP+ Jamestown also on Saturday at the mall, $2,384 was raised for the James River Senior and Community Center’s Meals on Wheels program. Dawson said the numbers were preliminary, and final figures would be available later this week.
The Buffalo Mall won the People’s Choice trophy in the chili cook-off. Central Auto Repair and Services raised the most money, and Classic Catering won the best decorated booth award and the most unique chili award.
