Clara D. Kuck

Clara D. Kuck

Clara D. Kuck departed from this world to see her Savior on May 1, 2014.

Born on April 16, 1925, in Alfred, N.D., to Edward and Maria (Schlenker) Heine, she grew up on the family farm near Alfred and received her education in rural Alfred. In 1948, she married Edwin Kuck in Alfred. They moved to Hardin to begin their life together, where they farmed until 1955.

In 1956, they moved to Billings, where she worked at various jobs until she landed a job at Butler's Kitchen on Fifth and Grand. She stayed with them through the move to 10th and Grand and, along the way, became the manager. She was often mistaken for "Mrs. Butler." She spent some 28-plus years at Butler's and, a lot of friendships later, she moved on to Bible Study Fellowship and quilting. She made many quilts for family members and also sang in the church choir. She knew how to make the old German dishes and would cook them up when she could. Thanks, Mom.

Clara and Ed were blessed with two sons, Mike and Dan, and 62 years of marriage.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Albert and Art; sisters Ida, Hulda, Else, Anna, Lydia, Mary, Esther and Eileen; and son Mike. She is survived by her son Dan (Bonnie) of Billings; five grandchildren, Michael E. Kuck II (Grace) of Nevada, Amanda Meier (Rick) of Columbus, SSgt. Amos M. Kuck (Nicole) of Little Rock AFB, Ark., April M. Kuck and Abbigail M. Kuck of Billings; five great-grandchildren, Michael III, Matthew, Cammie, Richard and Dekland; and sister Lorraine Lachenmeier of Hardin.
