Nick Blaskowski caught fire in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to rally Medina-Pingree-Buchanan Monday night.

The Thunder were down 56-39 after three quarters, but Blaskowski poured in 17 points over the final eight minutes to trigger a 28-point frame, but Kidder County prevailed 69-67 in Steele.

The Pirates built 17-point lead after 24 minutes. Cole Scherbenske led a balanced attack for the Pirates with 16 points. Ryan Sand added 15 and Ben Steinolfson 14.

Blaskowski ended the night with 21 points. Wyatt Staloch (17) and Cole Diede (12) combined for nearly 30.

New Rockford-Sheyenne closed its season with a win and finished over .500 in the process, beating Rolette-Wolford 60-56 on Monday.

Evan Swenson hit for 23 points in the win, while Seth Gilliss (12) and Ethan Haley (10) were also in double figures for the Rockets, who take their 10-9 record to the opening night of the District 7 tournament Thursday in Devils Lake. The Rockets face Carrington in the first round.

Nick Myhre poured in 26 points for the 8-11 Comets.

Griggs County Central outscored Maple Valley 15-10 in the fourth quarter after the game entered the final stanza tied at 49-all.

The Cougars had 22 points in the second quarter, but were held to seven in the third. Jayden Grover (14), Riley Nelson (13) and Hunter Engel (13) topped the Cougars offensively.

Antoine Motley surged to 27 points and canned four 3-pointers in the contest. Nine Warriors scored in all with Isaiah Stone entering double figures with 10 markers.
