Lakota-Edmore, Harvey-Wells County and New Rockford-Sheyenne all survived opening night of the Class B boys District 7 basketball tournament in Devils Lake on Thursday.

Kaden Martinson had a big night for Lakota-Edmore, as his double-double of 26 points and 18 rebounds lifted the Raiders past the Warwick Warriors 59-47.

The Warriors’ Antoine Motley posted a double-double of his own, scoring 15 and pulling down 12 boards.

Harvey-Wells County’s trio of Jason Beck, Andrew Alveshere and Evan Nitz powered the Hornets past the Midkota-Kensal Mustangs 88-50.

Beck drained 27 points, while Alveshere and Nitz responded with 20 and 18 points, respectively. Dakota Hoyt splashed in 25 points to pace the Mustangs.

New Rockford-Sheyenne’s Evan Swenson poured in a game-high 23 points, helping the Rockets outlast the Carrington Cardinals 53-48.

Carrington scored just one field goal in the first quarter and was unable to catch back up. Jacob Edland led the Cards in scoring with 14 points.

No. 5-ranked Four Winds-Minnewaukan, who received a first-round bye, will face Lakota-Edmore in the semifinals tonight at 5:30, while Harvey-Wells County will square off against New Rockford-Sheyenne.

Midkota-Kensal and Carrington fire things back up today with a loser-out game at 4 p.m.

Ellendale’s Isabel Wedell dropped in a game-high 15 points, while teammate Madilyn Bommersbach drilled three treys and scored 11, helping the Cardinals top the Lions in Linton by six.

Bommersbach hit a trey and scored five in the first period, as Ellendale built an 11-6 lead to start the second. McKenna Flyberg tossed in 12 points to lead the Lions.
