Conference for Huntington’s set
“Living Well with Huntington’s Disease” will be presented Nov. 9 at Holiday Inn Fargo, 3803 13th Ave. S, Fargo. The free event is from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
At 8 a.m. is registration and continental breakfast. At 9 a.m. is the welcome followed by “Introduction to HD,” by Dr. Tanya L. Harlow, M.D. Harlow is a neurologist at Sanford Neuroscience Center, Fargo. She will speak at 9:45 a.m. on clinical trials for HD.
Followed by a 10:15 a.m. break is “Behavior Issues in HD,” by Dr. Arik Johnson, PsyD. Johnson is a clinical psychologist at HDSA Center of Excellence at UCLA Medical Center. At noon is lunch and a HDSA advocacy update.
At 12:45 p.m., break-out session 1 is “Testing for HD,” Johnson, and “Talking with Children about HD,” Tara Giese, MSW, LISW, HSDA Northern Prairie Affiliate/Northern Plains Chapter. Break-out session 2 is “Driving and HD,” Johnson, and “Living Free,” Stephanie Smith, affiliate member. At 2:45 p.m. is the closing with Positive Motion “Movement with a Message,” Patrick Kasper, an internationally known motivational speaker.
