Richard Guthmiller, 85, Jamestown, was driving a 1997 Dodge north on First Avenue and was slowing down to make a left turn into Hugo’s.

Donovan Quam, 39, Detroit Lakes, Minn., was driving a 2006 Chevrolet north on First Avenue and was behind Guthmiller.

Quam struck the vehicle Guthmiller was driving as Guthmiller was making the turn. As a result of the force of this collision, Guthmiller struck a 2008 Ford parked in the Hugo’s parking lot. The police said road conditions at the time were icy.

Quam and Guthmiller wore seat belts and neither man was injured.

Damage was estimated at $2,500 each for the Dodge and Chevrolet and at $1,500 for the Ford.

Quam was cited for following another vehicle too close.
