The Portland, N.D., woman was traveling westbound on N.D. Highway 20 on her bicycle at about 6:47 p.m., according to the NDHP report. The driver, a 34-year-old male from Finley, N.D., was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado and struck the cyclist from behind. The cyclist was thrown from her bicycle and suffered fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The woman was taken to University of North Dakota Medical Center.

The driver of the pickup and his passengers — a 9-year-old and a 10-year-old juvenile — were not injured.

Charges against the driver are pending, and the crash remains under investigation.

The Traill County and Steele County sheriff’s department and the May-Port Fire Department assisted at the scene.
