A two-vehicle accident at 2:13 p.m. Monday resulted in approximately $5,000 in damage, but no injuries, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

Merle Allen, 89, of Jamestown was driving a 2010 Ford pickup south on U.S. Highway 281 South.

Joaquin Guzman-Gutierrez, 31, Jamestown, was driving a 2002 Ford passenger car north on U.S. Highway 281 South.

According to the police report, Guzman-Gutierrez turned left at a green light onto 20th Street Southwest and was struck on the passenger side by Allen. Allen told police he could not stop in time and officers found 45 feet of skid marks left behind by Allen’s attempt to stop.

Damage was estimated at $1,500 to the pickup and $3,500 to the car.

Guzman-Gutierrez was cited for failure to yield and driving without a license. His brother, Juan Guzman-Gutierrez, age unavailable, Jamestown, a passenger in the car and the vehicle’s owner, was cited for permitting an unauthorized person to operate a vehicle and for permitting the operation of a motor vehicle without liability insurance.

U.S. Border Patrol placed a detainer hold on Joaquin and another passenger in the car, Selin Garcia, 20, Jamestown, to check their immigration status. Border Patrol’s findings were unavailable.
