Demons blank Blue Jays

Perennial power Bismarck flexed its muscles against Jamestown in West Region competition on Thursday night.

The Demons scored three goals in the first half en route to a 5-0 win at the Bismarck Community Bowl.

“They move the ball extremely well,” Jamestown coach Mark Sherfy said. “The midfield is where they gave us trouble. It created trouble for our guys trying to stay organized, defensively.”

Bismarck’s Nash Binegar scored a goal in the third minute of the game, but Sherfy said his team wasn’t fazed.

“They shook that off pretty well,” he said. “They kept the intensity up for the entire 80 minutes.”

Hunter Johnson scored Bismarck’s ensuing three goals for the hat trick. Bismarck keeper Derek Wachter had three saves.

Jamestown’s Adam Reiten stopped nine shots in net. The Blue Jays play at Grand Forks Red River at 3 p.m. Saturday.
