Devils Lake man killed in crash
A 53-year-old Devils Lake man was killed Sunday evening after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a bridge pillar on Interstate 29 at Buxton, N.D., according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at 6:05 p.m. Sunday on I-29 near Exit 118. The patrol has not released the name of the man pending notification of his family.
The patrol said the man was driving a 1998 Ford minivan south on I-29 and had passed another vehicle. After merging back into the right lane, the minivan began to weave back and forth. The minivan drifted to left, entered the median, continued south. The patrol said the man attempted to get the vehicle under control, but the vehicle kept fishtailing. The minivan struck a bridge pillar in the median near Exit 118.
The man was transported by Altru Hillsboro Ambulance to the Altru Hospital/University of North Dakato Medical Center in Grand Forks. The patrol said the man suffered fatal injuries from the crash.
Traill County Sheriff's Office and the Buxton Fire Department assisted the NDHP with this accident. The accident remains under investigation.
