Dickinson man dies in crash north of South Heart, N.D.
A Dickinson, N.D., man died Saturday after his vehicle was struck by a 2013 freightliner truck two miles north of South Heart, N.D., according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Kenneth Jurgens, 57, was driving a gray 2014 Toyota Tundra pickup eastbound on Old Highway 10 and approached the intersection of Highway 10 and 121st Ave. SW, which is controlled by a stop sign.
Jonathan Racanelli, of Colorado, was driving a freightliner truck at approximately 35 miles per hour southbound on 121st Ave. SW.
Jurgens ran the stop sign. Racanelli applied the brakes but could not avoid the collision. Jurgens struck the side of the trailer of Racanelli’s truck. The freightliner skidded to a stop a few hundred feet down the road south of the intersection, dragging the pickup with it.
Jurgens was killed in the collision, the NDHP report said. Racanelli was not injured.
The NDHP said weather was not a factor in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
