DOT issues travel alert for western third of N.D.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation has issued a travel alert for the western third of North Dakota from the Montana border east to Dickinson and from the South Dakota border north to the Canadian border including the cities and surrounding areas of Dickinson, Beach, Bowman, Hettinger, Watford City, New Town, Williston, Stanley, Kenmare, and Crosby.
The alert has been issued due to increased winds causing reduced visibility and blowing snow which is causing snow drifts near structures and sheltered areas. As the storm moves east, the winds are expected to increase, which may extend the alert area.
All travelers are encouraged to monitor road conditions, reduce traffic speeds as weather conditions occur and use caution while traveling. For road information, call 511 from any type of phone or go to the Web site: www.dot.nd.gov. Please be advised that information on 511 and the travel map is updated daily from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m. CST. The road report is based upon the information available to the NDDOT at the time of preparation and is provided solely as a public service. Conditions may vary from those reported.
