Jamestown kept it competitive, but Minot was too much on Friday.

The Majettes left Jamestown with an 8-1 West Region win at Bolinger Courts.

The Blue Jays’ lone win was at No. 3 singles, where Bailee Graves won a couple of close sets against Latasha Klein. Graves won the opener 7-6, and then 7-3 in the tiebreaker. She followed that up with a 7-5 win.

“Bailee played well enough to win,” Jamestown coach Pat Mullowney said. “She adjusted well as the match went on.”

At No. 2 singles, Jenna Reed stayed with Minot’s Jenna Coggins in the first set, losing 7-6 (8-6). Coggins rolled 6-1 in the second set. Maria LeFevre also stayed close at No. 4 singles, falling 6-4, 7-5 to Kendra Collins.

Kaitlin Mullowney won the first set against Emily Beck 6-3 at No. 5 singles, but lost out 6-4 and 6-3. Taylor Webber was also competitive at No. 6, winning the opening set 6-4. Minot’s Alyssa Henson bounced back with 7-5 and 7-6 (7-4) wins.

“We battled and that’s all you can ask,” Pat Mullowney said. “We just didn’t finish a couple sets.”

Minot won all three doubles matches in straight sets.

The Blue Jays intend to play at the East-West Invite today in Fargo.
