Driver injures hand in one-car crash
More than $14,000 in damage happened during a one-car accident Saturday, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Trevor Peterson, 19, 1609 16th St. SW Apt. 2B, was driving a 2007 Pontiac on 17th Avenue when he swerved to the right to avoid hitting two deer that were crossing the road. The police said Peterson went into right-side ditch, continued driving in the ditch and struck a tree head on.
The police said Peterson left the scene, went to his residence and called the owner of the vehicle, then was taken to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center by a private party where he was treated for a left hand fracture.
Damage was estimated at $14,000 for the Pontiac. The police said it was not known if Peterson was wearing his seat belt.
Peterson was cited for careless driving, driving in violation of an instructional permit and driving in violation of restrictions.
The police said the owner of the vehicle, Lindsey Roswell, who lives at the same address as Peterson, was cited for permitting an unauthorized person to drive.
