Drivers injured in head-on collision
Two drivers were injured in a head-on collision at 11:49 a.m. today on North Dakota Highway 18 at its overpass with Interstate 94, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The NDHP report states that Bradley Sjolin, 44, of Lisbon, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo south on N.D. 18 from Fargo to Lisbon, N.D., traveling between 30 and 35 miles per hour. He observed two vehicles stopped on N.D. 18 waiting to turn left onto I-94, and applied his brakes to avoid striking them. His car swerved into the northbound lane of N.D. 18, striking a 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Reid Lauderman, 60, of Leonard, N.D.
Lauderman was traveling north on N.D. 18 from Leonard to Casselton, N.D., and he had been passing the two stopped vehicles when Sjolin traveled into his lane in front of him and the vehicles collided, the report states.
Both drivers’ airbags deployed, both were wearing seatbelts and both were transported by ambulance to Essentia Health. Sjolin was treated and released for a leg injury. Lauderman was treated for injuries to his leg and chest.
Sjolin was cited for care required/no insurance, according to the report.
Assisting at the scene were the Cass County Sheriff's Office, Casselton Fire Department, Casselton Ambulance and Fargo-Moorhead Ambulance.
