ELCA schedules elections for regional bishop position
Elections for bishop of the Eastern North Dakota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will be May 10-11 in Grand Forks.
The nominees are the Rev. Terry Brandt, associate with the bishop, Eastern ND Synod Office, Fargo; the Rev. Chris Gaule, pastor of Grafton Lutheran Church, Grafton, N.D.; the Rev. Lynn Ronsberg, directing pastor, Sharon Lutheran Church, Grand Forks; the Rev. Mark Strobel interim pastor, Martin’s Lutheran Church, Casselton, N.D.; and the Rev. Matt Valan, senior pastor, Lutheran Church of the Christ the King, Moorhead, Minn.
Open forums with the nominees are scheduled for a variety of places throughout the synod, including one from 2 to 4 p.m. April 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown.
Other meetings are from 7 to 9 p.m. April 4, Hope Lutheran Church (North Campus), Fargo; 10 a.m. to noon, United Lutheran Church, Grand Forks; 7 to 9 p.m., Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake.
These forums offer an opportunity to meet and hear from the nominees before the election at the Eastern North Dakota Synod Assembly May 10-11 in Grand Forks.
There will be a question and answer session where nominees will address topics important to the call of bishop in the Eastern North Dakota Synod. Questions will also be taken from the floor. An informal fellowship time will follow.
All pastors, voting members to the synod assembly and anyone interested in the leadership of the Eastern North Dakota Synod of the ELCA are welcome to attend.
