Evona Ward, 79, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at her home under the care of Sanford Hospice and her daughters. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, May 19, 2014, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan, North Dakota, with Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck, North Dakota. A gathering of family and friends is scheduled for one hour prior to the service. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Evona was born May 6, 1935, at Bismarck, North Dakota, to Henry and Daisy (Bailey) Swanson. She was raised and educated in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1953. On October 19, 1953, she married Gary Ward in Bismarck and they had five daughters.
She was a member of McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck. For several years she would watch the infants in the nursery. She loved crocheting, crosswords, and most of all her grandchildren.
She is survived by her five daughters, Wanda Brennan, Bismarck, Gail (Frank) Mosbrucker, Coral Springs, Florida, Tracy (Jerome) Delzer, Bismarck, Kathy (Jim) Wheeler, Jamestown, Amy (Paul) Serenko, Gwinner, North Dakota; son-in-law, Kevin Brennan, Bismarck; sister, Delores (Robert) Watson, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Myron Fried, Grand Forks; 12 grandchildren, Karly and Daniel Brennan, Jesse and Dustin Mosbrucker, Kelly (Grant) Rollins, Joshua (Jade) Wheeler, Gabriel (Shannon) Wheeler, Nathon (Aimee) Delzer, Brad and Jon Delzer, and Guy and Shelby Serenko; and nine great-grandchildren.
Evona was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Virgil Swanson; and sister, Arlene Fried.
