Father was driving SUV that killed toddler
BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — Police have identified the family member who fatally ran over a toddler in Brooklyn Center on Monday as the child's father.
Xeng Lor, 32, didn't realize the 14-month-old girl was near his sport utility vehicle when he backed it up in the family's driveway to make room for a grill that had been set up near the garage, Brooklyn Center police said Tuesday.
The child was struck and pronounced dead at the scene of multiple head injuries. Her name had not been released.
The child was one of three toddlers playing in the yard at the time of the incident, which took place around 3 p.m. Authorities are classifying the girl's death as accidental.
The investigation is continuing.
