Figure skaters compete in Duluth

Five members of the James River Figure Skating Club competed in the 34th annual Northland Figure Skating Competition in Duluth, Minn., on Jan. 31-Feb. 2.

James River skaters earned two first-place performances, two seconds and six third-place medals at the meet, which featured 612 skaters from 53 clubs.

James River Figure skaters competed in 15 events, earning 12 medals total.

Emily Suckow, Chelsea Huber, Hannah Jorgenson, Kaitlin Mullowney and Cati Suckow competed in compulsory, free skate and artistic categories.

The team is coached by Mark Vasarhelyi.

Kaitlin Mullowney (Preliminary): Free skate (Well balanced), 3; Compulsory, 2; Artistic, 3.

Cati Suckow (Preliminary): Free skate (Test track), 10; Compulsory, 9; Artistic, 3.
