Fire damages home: No injuries reported
The Jamestown Fire Department responded to a fire at 915 5th Ave. SE at 4:54 p.m. on Wednesday.
“(There is) lots of smoke damage,” Kainz said. “The fire was concentrated in the kitchen area, but there’s heavy smoke and heat damage throughout the home … (She) can’t stay in the house the way it is.”
Thirty-three firefighters responded to the blaze and had cleared the scene by 5:45 p.m. Kainz said five units were dispatched: two equipment trucks, two pumper trucks and a ladder truck.
No injuries were reported.
In a rare instance, Kainz said the high winds on Wednesday actually helped the firefighters. He said the wind helped ventilate the heat from the house.
“We use fans but the wind was actually in our favor today, not against us,” Kainz said. “(That happens) not very often.”
