Fire severely damages Jamestown home
The Jamestown Fire Department responded to a fire at 915 5th Ave. SE at 4:54 p.m. on Wednesday.
Deputy Fire Chief Jerry Kainz said the cause of the fire was still under investigation Wednesday night, but said the fire started and was contained in the kitchen, but caused damage throughout the house. He said the sole occupant was in another part of the house, saw smoke and immediately exited the domicile to alert authorities. Kainz believed the woman was making arrangements to stay with family because the house is too severely damaged to reside in.
Thirty-three firefighters responded to the blaze and had cleared the scene by 5:45 p.m. Kainz said five units were dispatched: two equipment trucks, two pumper trucks and a ladder truck.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
