Flights being added to help growth
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — Williston’s airport manager says United and Delta will each be adding another flight next month to help with a huge jump in airport boardings from last year.
The Williston Herald reported that airline boardings increased by 247 percent at Sloulin Field International Airport in September, leading the state. Williston registered a total of 7,900 boardings, an increase of 5,623 from a year ago.
Year-to-date statistics show Williston at 67,558 boardings, a 182 percent increase of 43,585 from 2012.
Airport manager Steven Kjergaard said the numbers are about where the airport expected to be. He said Williston’s airport is designed for more than 6,000 passengers a year.
