Free parenting classes to begin
“Love & Logic,” a set of free parenting classes, are planned on Tuesdays, March 25-April 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 523 4th Ave. SE, Jamestown. Dinner and child care are provided.
These classes help parents learn skills that cultivate confidence and good decision-making in children by offering them choices, empathy and respect while parents avoid anger, threats, warnings and lectures. “Love and Logic” can be put to use right away, class instructors said.
Participants learn techniques to:
*avoid power struggles while setting limits
*reduce nagging and complaining
*teach children healthy problem-solving skills
*stay calm in stressful parenting situations
*help children learn responsibility
*give consequences with empathy.
To register for the classes, call the Region 6 Parent Resource Center, Barnes County Extension Service, at 701-845-8528.
Programming is funded by the North Dakota Department of Human Services Children and Family Services in partnership with the North Dakota Parent Education Network and North Dakota State University Extension Service.
