Governor requests federal assistance
Gov. Jack Dalrymple has requested a federal disaster declaration for nine North Dakota counties and the Standing Rock Reservation. The request includes a preliminary damage assessment of $1.05 million and asks that the Federal Emergency Management Agency cover 75 percent of recover costs.
Included in the request are Benson, Bottineau, Divide, Eddy, McHenry, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville and Ward counties and Standing Rock Reservation.
Damage occurred during heavy rains that occurred between June 18 and July 1 which produced as much as 12 inches of rain in Eddy County. The rain caused flooding which damaged private and public property in the area.
