Grant awarded to Stutsman County
The Garrison Diversion Conservancy District’s Recreation Committee recently awarded a $4,875 matching recreation grant to the Stutsman County Park Board.
The matching recreation grant funds will be used to purchase playground equipment for the Lakeside Campground on the Jamestown Reservoir.
The Recreation Committee awarded matching recreation grants to 15 applicants totaling $156,801. Projects varied from constructing a concession area to installing playground equipment.
“Garrison Diversion’s Recreation Committee is happy to work with member counties applying for grant funds,” said Alan Walter, Recreation Committee chairman. The money awarded to communities helps to enhance the recreation opportunities provided within the counties.”
The committee awarded an $8,625 matching recreation grant to the city of Wimbledon for the purchase of new playground equipment for the park. The Dickey County Park Board also received a $1,000 grant for beach improvements at Pheasant Lake.
Garrison Diversion dedicates two-tenths of its one-mill levy to the matching recreation grant program, and the Recreation Committee meets every spring and fall to consider applications. The next deadline for recreation grant applications is April 1.
