Group offers to match donations
A group of anonymous donors is offering $2 million in match for donations made to the Salvation Army in North Dakota and Minnesota today and Saturday.
Lt. Mitch Brecto, Jamestown Salvation Army administrator, said in a prepared statement this donation matching opportunity will help get the Salvation Army’s Christmas campaign back on track in North Dakota and Minnesota. Kettle donations are down in both states, he said.
Brecto said through the end of the day Wednesday $97,784 had been raised for the Jamestown Christmas campaign, about $49,000 short of the goal of $147,000.
“If we in Jamestown can raise $25,000 over Friday and Saturday, we’ll be matched $25,000 and will have reached our goal,” he said.
Donations may be made at any Salvation Army kettle, by calling 800-725-2769, online at salvationarymnorth.org, or by check at the Jamestown Salvation Army worship and service center, 320 1st Ave. N.
