Guard soldiers honored for Afghanistan service
FARGO (AP) — Members of a Fargo-based Air National Guard unit who served about half a year in Afghanistan were honored for their service.
A welcome home ceremony for the 30 airmen with the 119th Security Forces Squadron was held Saturday morning in Fargo. Members of the unit returned home in October.
Gov. Jack Dalrymple thanked the airmen and family members for their willingness to serve and sacrifice. He said the unit performed “an important and dangerous mission” in Afghanistan.
While overseas, the airmen helped with security at Bagram Airfield and elsewhere in Afghanistan.
