The KC Invite had just four teams, but heavyweights Dickinson and Bismarck Century made up half the field and both teams surpassed the 140-point mark.

Hillerud had three top five finishes, including a 9.45 on floor and 9.2 on vault. Coach Dave Tews also singled out her 8.9 on bars.

“She had a really good night,” he said. “Those scores she got she definitely earned.”

The Blue Jays are short-handed because of injuries, but still posted a respectable 135.925, which was better than Bismarck’s 135.275.

“All things considered, it really wasn’t too bad,” Tews said.

Freshman Maggie Ridley’s all around of 33.475, included a 9.1 on vault, good for seventh. Glynna Godfrey had a career-best 9.0 on the same apparatus.

Abbie Conlon finished a shade under 33 at 32.9.

Hannah Schiele’s 8.475 on floor was another bright spot.

The Blue Jays had good performances on vault (36.4) and floor (34.95), but struggled on the other two.

“We’re having a tough time on bars and beam,” Tews said.

Dickinson’s 143.750 led the way. Acacia Fossum (37.4) and Mikaela Kessel (36.025) each lit up the scoreboard. Century’s 141.7 was paced by Jessica Gabriel (35.950).

The Blue Jays are off to Wahpeton on Thursday for a quadrangular.
