Home & Garden Show opens Saturday
The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce’s Home & Garden Show opens Saturday at the Jamestown Civic Center with vendor booths and seminars.
The show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
Lisa Hicks, the chamber’s executive director, said as of Thursday afternoon 102 vendor spots were filled with four spots left.
This is Hicks’ first time organizing the Home & Garden Show.
“Last year I organized some of our (the chamber’s) other events, and wasn’t part of the Home & Garden Show, so this is kind of a new experience for me,” Hicks said.
Kendra Krueger, the chamber’s finance coordinator, sent out all the vendor registration forms for this year’s event. Hicks said she had a good feeling about the success of this year’s event due to the response the chamber received in early vendor returns.
“We had about 30 to 32 responses early on, which is great,” she said.
Hicks said the chamber has received a lot of calls from vendors in Minnesota, South Dakota and Fargo about booth availability.
“Apparently the Sport & Recreation Show drew a big crowd because a lot of vendors who were in that show want to come back and be in this one,” she said.
Hicks said she is also encouraged by the weather forecasted for the weekend. According to the National Weather Service office in Bismarck, the forecast for Saturday is sunny conditions with a high of 50. It will be windy with a south wind blowing steady at 11 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Sunday there is a 40 percent chance of precipitation starting with snow before 8 a.m. then changing to rain after 9 a.m. The high temperature will be 42.
Even if the weather isn’t so nice, Hicks said there are seminars both days to bring people in, and air games will be available for the children. Games to Go will have inflatable games, like an obstacle course, from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Exchequers Room at the Civic Center.
The following is a list of seminars that will be held at the Home & Garden Show:
