“Honor box” to be placed at Parkhurst

The Stutsman County Park Board agreed to put an “honor box” at Parkhurst for camping fees, which will be set at $10 per day.

According to the county’s website,, Parkhurst has boat docks and ramps, picnic sites, shelters, vault toilets and a dump station, with camping and group shelters.

The “honor box” system will allow a person to take an envelope, place a camping fee inside and drop it into a secured box, in return for a tab or tag that shows the fee was paid. One tab would be needed for each camping unit, so that if a camper has two cars associated with it, only the camper would need to display a tab.

The Park Board also authorized the hiring of two part-time workers for the summer, each of whom would work less than 20 hours a week. The Park Board had budgeted for the expense.
