Human Services chief on leave

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — The head of Becker County’s Human Services Department has been on paid administrative leave since late Monday afternoon, according to Becker County Administrator Jack Ingstad.

Ingstad said he can only reveal what the county is required to release by law, and cannot provide any details on the action involving longtime Human Services Director Nancy Nelson.

The Becker County Board will hold a closed session on the issue at its meeting Tuesday.

“People shouldn’t jump to assumptions,” Ingstad said. “Hopefully the matter can be resolved in a short time, although every matter is different.”

Nelson could not be reached for comment.
