Trent Fettig ran for five touchdowns to lift Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter into the 9-man state semifinals on Saturday.

The senior quarterback had TD runs of 2, 1, 20, 19 and 48 yards, and even threw another, connecting on a 5-yard end zone strike with Dylan Bitz in the second quarter that put the Imperials up 36-0 at halftime.

Fettig finished with 21 carries for 215 yards and was 4-of-6 for 57 yards through the air.

F-S-H-P entered with its only loss of the season coming to Cavalier. The Spartans were led by Clay Montag’s 51 yards. Ethan Jacobson scored their only TD, a 17-yard scamper in the final 2 minutes.

The Imperials host top-ranked and unbeaten Cavalier on Saturday. Both teams are seeded No. 1 in their respective regions and when like seeds play, odd-numbered seeds host in odd years.

L-HMB 16, Oakes 9

As good as Oakes’ offense has been this season, it hasn’t been able to figure out Linton-HMB’s stellar defense.

The Lions won the earlier matchup 8-7 and once again held the high-powered Tornadoes down 16-9 to advance to the Class A state semifinals on Saturday.

Linton-HMB, which led 8-0 at halftime after a 1-yard TD pass from Brooks Flyberg to Jon Purintun, went up two scores on a Rylan Jacob 2-yard TD run in the third quarter. Jacob finished with 30 carries for 165 yards.

Oakes fired back with a safety in the third quarter, and received a big play from quarterback Bryce Meehl, who connected with Ethan Zetocha for a 47-yard touchdown pass to cut the deficit to seven points in the fourth quarter. Meehl was 15-of-32 for 212 yards for the Tornadoes (7-3).

Linton-HMB (8-3), the No. 3 seed out of Region 1, visits top-seeded and Region 1 champion Milnor-North Sargent in the semis. M-NS won 20-14 at Linton-HMB in late September.
