Rainey Selvig had five kills in the first set to spark Jamestown to a 25-15, 25-16, 25-19 North Dakota Class A state quarterfinal win over Grand Forks Red River Thursday afternoon at the Minot State Dome.

The Blue Jays secured the best finish in school history with the win. Their previous best was sixth in 1999 and 2012.

Jamestown controlled the action in the first set and then used rallies midway through final two sets to earn the victory, which propels it into today's semifinals against Fargo Shanley. The match is set for 6 p.m.Red River meets Bismarck High in consolation play at noon.
